5/19/2014 Market Wrap

News:
IDCC disclosed that a panel awarded $14.5M in arbitration with Arima

Trading Commentary:
The IP Investment sector traded very strong all day.  There were multiple 
  investments really on the move today on high volume.  I believe some 
  of the activity was related to trading groups taking advantage of low
  float situations.
The sector is up roughly $125M in total since patent reform looks to be 
  shelved on Friday. Many investments near 52 week lows and heavily
  shorted.  There could be a perfect storm brewing with heavy short
  interest, 52 week lows, SCOTUS software opinion, CAFC pending
  opinions, and litigation reform looking to be over.  I am expecting a 
  very volatile rest of 2014 and investors need to be nimble and aware
  of the news flow.
EONC closed up 44% on very high average volume and was up over 60%
  at one point this afternoon.  An unpaid email solicitation and twitter
  trading groups are the likely drivers.  I did not see any official news that
  would spark a move.
PRKR closed down 9% on above average volume in sympathy with the
  SA article published this morning.  I published a comment on the article
  which is worth reading.
SPEX closed up 4.5% on above average volume and was up close to 20%
  at one point this afternoon as the twitter trading groups were active
  again.  I wish they would go away as they create havoc for long term
  investors and I would imagine the company.
VHC closed up 7% today on above average volume, which also involved
  a reverse conversion of a 250,000 share block and 2,500 Puts/Calls on the
  June $25 Strike.  I am getting reports the borrow to short is over 40%.
